Cincinnati, OH –
A 15-year-old male from Ohio has been arrested for reportedly shooting and killing a man who repeatedly punched his mother in the face.
The dramatic event occurred in the early morning hours of February 20 on Pasadena Avenue in Cincinnati. Police say officers were called to the scene of a reported shooting at 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered 30-year-old Levonte Hyde with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but died from his wounds.
Police didn’t waste any time, and that afternoon, homicide detectives arrested the teenager, charging him with murder. Court documents obtained by Cleveland 19 show a disturbing history.
A Violent Confrontation
The mother of the teen reported to police that Hyde had brutally punched her multiple times while they were on their way to a store that evening, according to an affidavit that the outlet received. The assault was severe enough that officers asked for an arrest warrant for Hyde on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. They also asked for a temporary protection order for the woman.

The police report identified her as the “victim” and mentioned visible facial injuries. Hyde was formally charged with domestic violence later that day.
Police confirmed that the accused teenager is the son of the woman but not her relative to Hyde. Court records also show that Hyde and the woman have two children in common.
Court Hearing and Charges

At a February 21 hearing in juvenile court, prosecutors charged that the teen shot Hyde 12 times. Assistant prosecutor Tatyana Reintjes told the court that the teenager “had time to find a gun, open a safe, grab that gun, and waited for the victim to show up before shooting 12 times.”
The violent argument between Hyde and the teen mother allegedly occurred only 30 minutes prior to the shooting.
The teen is currently in custody at a juvenile detention center and will remain there until his next hearing on March 3.
The authorities are still conducting their investigation.
