Misa Hylton, the well-known stylist and mother to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son, Justin, is speaking out after making a public appearance at Diddy’s criminal trial in New York City.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on May 18, Hylton explained exactly why she showed up to the courthouse—despite recovering from a leg injury and using a walker to get around.
“I’m on my healing journey,” the 52-year-old began, adding that although she intended to recover privately, everything changed when her son needed her. “When my son said, ‘Mommy, I need you,’ I was right there for him—walker and all.”

She made it clear: her appearance wasn’t about making a statement about the case. It was about being there for Justin, 31, who’s stood by his father through intense public scrutiny and a mounting legal battle.

“I’m a MOTHER FIRST, FOR REAL,” she wrote. “And I am my son’s strength. Plain and simple.”
Hylton’s support for her son comes as Diddy faces serious federal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. The trial began on May 12 and could last several weeks. If convicted, Diddy, 55, could spend the rest of his life in prison.
While Hylton didn’t dive into the specifics of the case in her post, she did take a moment to encourage others with disabilities or injuries. “To all my temporarily disabled and disabled people—don’t ever be ashamed of using the tools you need to heal and move around in this world,” she said, proudly referencing her walker.
The fashion icon wrapped up her post with a prayerful message for kindness and strength, and a humorous nod to the late Tupac Shakur: “P.S. It took me everything in my soul to not turn into Pac leaving the courtroom. If you know, you know.”
Hylton and Diddy dated in the early ’90s and welcomed Justin in 1993. Though they split shortly after, they’ve remained connected, often seen at public events with their blended family.
Over the past year, Hylton has also spoken out on the allegations surrounding her ex. When Homeland Security raided Diddy’s Los Angeles home in March 2024, she slammed the treatment of Justin and his brother Christian “King” Combs, who were both handcuffed during the raid. She called the actions “deplorable” and said they wouldn’t have happened if the young men weren’t Black.

And when surveillance footage was released showing Diddy allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura back in 2016, Hylton expressed heartbreak and support. “I know exactly how she feels,” she said, revealing that it had triggered her own trauma.

Through it all, she’s kept the focus on the kids. “We raised them to lead with God and education,” she shared, referencing the seven children Diddy has fathered. “Two of the youngest don’t have their mother here, and it’s been our duty to support them.”
As the trial plays out, Hylton hopes for healing—for her son, her family, and even Diddy himself. “He needs help,” she said. “I’m praying he truly does the personal work and receives it.”
