Matt Damon is back on the big screen, but this time he’s stepping into the sandals of a legendary Greek hero. Director Christopher Nolan is bringing Homer’s epic tale, The Odyssey, to life, and fans just got their first glimpse of Damon as Odysseus.
Universal Pictures dropped the first photo on Monday, Feb. 17, and it’s got everyone talking. Damon, now 54, looks every bit the part of the warrior king, sporting rugged armor, a dramatic cape, and a headpiece that screams ancient hero. In the image, he strikes a powerful side-profile pose, giving off serious “don’t-mess-with-me” vibes.

The movie is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2026, and fans can hardly wait to see Nolan’s spin on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told. The buzz is real—will Damon’s Odysseus live up to the legend? We’ll find out soon enough!
