A romantic getaway in Hawaii took a terrifying turn when a doctor allegedly tried to push his wife off a scenic cliff. The shocking incident unfolded on March 24 at the Pali Lookout in Oahu, a breathtaking site known for its stunning views and powerful winds.
Honolulu police say 46-year-old Gerhardt Konig attacked his 36-year-old wife after she refused to take a picture with him. What started as a simple disagreement quickly escalated into violence. According to authorities, Konig allegedly attempted to shove his wife off the edge before repeatedly hitting her in the head with a rock.

Thankfully, she survived but remains in critical condition. Two witnesses called 911, and police arrived to find her injured on a hiking trail. Meanwhile, Konig fled the scene but was arrested later that evening.
The Maui-based doctor has since been charged with second-degree attempted murder, and his bail is set at a staggering $5 million. His lawyer, Myles Breiner, expressed surprise at the allegations, noting that Konig has no prior criminal record. “Why he did this? That’s a mystery,” Breiner told Island News.

The couple was reportedly on vacation in Oahu at the time of the attack. Public records indicate the woman was celebrating her birthday in March. The case has shocked the local community, and Konig is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
As the investigation continues, authorities are piecing together what led to this horrifying moment at one of Hawaii’s most iconic viewpoints.
