Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton Team Up for "Please Please Please" Duet on Deluxe Album
February 14, 2025 – Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has released a special duet version of her hit song Please Please Please featuring country music legend Dolly Parton. The collaboration is part of the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet, which dropped on Valentine’s Day.
A Country Twist on a Pop Hit
The new rendition of Please Please Please infuses a country influence, blending Carpenter’s signature pop style with Parton’s iconic sound. Alongside the release, the duo unveiled a vintage-inspired music video that includes subtle nods to Carpenter’s past relationship with actor Barry Keoghan.
Keoghan, 32, originally starred in the music video for Please Please Please when the track was first released in June 2024. The original visual depicted a tumultuous love story with a crime-themed plotline.

A Cinematic Music Video with Hidden Messages
The newly released video takes viewers on a dramatic road trip. Carpenter and Parton are seen driving in a pickup truck, singing the reimagined version of the song. In a key moment, Parton hands Carpenter a shovel while she stands in the truck bed, hinting at a possible symbolic meaning. The climax of the video reveals a handcuffed figure in the back of the vehicle, dressed identically to Keoghan’s character in the original music video, fueling speculation among fans.
Filmed in Nashville, the video aligns with the song’s country-infused rework. A notable lyric modification further enhances the duet’s storytelling, replacing the original line, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, mother——,” with “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, like the others,” as Carpenter and Parton take turns singing.
Carpenter and Keoghan’s Relationship History
Carpenter and Keoghan were romantically linked for about a year before taking a break in late 2024. The former couple made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Met Gala, but by December, a source told PEOPLE they had decided to focus on their careers.
Carpenter Expresses Gratitude to Parton
Sharing a snippet of the music video on Instagram, Carpenter expressed her excitement about collaborating with Parton. “Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!!” she captioned, adding, “I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.”

Parton also shared her enthusiasm on social media, posting, “Turns out, two things can be short and sweet 😉 Listen to ‘Please Please Please (feat. Dolly Parton)’ everywhere now! ❤️”
